Artist Statement:
“Cathedral Canopy” is a magical corridor to the ocean.
Known as Beach Access No. 9 (Lanikai), the path is compelling. As I entered, I saw yin-yang shadows dancing brightly at my feet. Looking up, there was an amazing array of fragmented shapes described by the arcing branches above. I was transported in awe. It was like being in the magnificent vaulted open space of a light-filled cathedral. Above and below were so distinctive, so contrasting. If style is a “language”, this painting is bilingual.
